ARC5000 software for AOR AR5000 series
AOR have been synonymous with pioneering receiver design from many years. Spectrum Master, Windows/95 PC control software for the AR5000 with data. The software AR5000RA allows to comfortably operate the AOR AR5000 receiver from a computer. However its main purpose is to record rf-signals on the base of the automatic gain control (agc) of the AR5000 to observe propagation of radio waves and condition of the ionosphere (see examples ).

ARC5000 software information: ARC5000 provides a set of tools you can use to setup/manage your AR5000. Unfortunately operating the AR5000 by the keyboard is not ergonomic but the very nice RS232C interface can help you.
Note that the ARC5000 software is only a tool for setting up the radio like memory/search banks/bandplan. The software does NOT support full remote control and scanning options although the spectrum analyser can log data but search speed of the analyser is only 2-4 freq's a second.

System requirements: Windows 98/Win2000/XP.
ARC5000 is not compatible with 64 bit versions of Windows and will not be updated for Vista/7.
Here is an overview of the tools:
AR5000 Memory Manager:
- Edit of all memory parameters (ARC5000 is the only software that programs CTCSS!)
- Cut/Copy/Paste Options with Clipboard support
- Cut/Copy/Paste complete mem.channel data
- Only ARC5000 reads and writes CTCSS without removing them from your memory bank
- Link an offset to your memory channels. ARC reads the actual offsets you programmed.
- Sort option
- Edit the scan parameters (delay, pause, voice, level)
- Edit the bank link settings:
- Right Mouse Button Popup menu
- Insert/Remove Channels
AR5000 Bandplan Manager:
The software includes the USA and Europe bandplan that came with the AR5000. Use these to build your personal bandplan.AR5000 Virtual Control Center
This tool introduced the first virtual AR5000 control. The window is divided in 3 sections.
The top section is the virtual display showing more info then the AR5000 display itself. It shows all the current settings including volume/squelch/s-signal.
The middle section is a large toolbar were you can select Mode/Bandwidth/Antenna/Audio Filters/AGC and setup Volume and Squelch.

The bottom section is used to input new data. Program the frequency/step/shift using a virtual keyboard. Also tuning the AR5000 is possible. You can also setup the tone eliminator.
The virtual control center will get support for memory and search banks in the future.
Spectrum Analyser
The famous ARC spectrum analyser is also available for the AR5000. See other site for info and more screenshots. The spectrum analyser includes cumulative, continue and single peak mode. A powerful ZOOM option let's you zoom in at a certain range with a few mouse clicks. The 5000 is automaticly updated with the new search range. A hit spectrum and extended log options are also available. You can setup all colors and horizontal/vertical lines. The EASY LISTENING option tunes the 5000 to a received frequency by double clicking a peak in the Spectrum.
ARC5000 includes the spectrum analyser software too.

Search Manager
Setup your search banks. The data is presented in a spread-sheet window like the memory manager.

A quick Google search shows that there are several variations of this model: AR5000A, AR5000A+3.
On April 24, 2008 AOR announced the discontinuation of the AR5000A receiver due to crucial parts being unavailable for various reasons. A replacement receiver is in development.
The AR5000+3 is a ‘feature loaded’ version of the AR5000 receiver with three enhanced facilities which can only be fitted in the factory during manufacture:
- Synchronous AM
- Automatic Frequency Control
- Noise blanker
The facility of switching EPROM banks is now supported by the AR5000+3This virtually means that the AR5000 now has 2000 memory channels,40 search banks, 10 VFOs etc... two sets in one!
